Bryan Hulbert - PEVELY, Mo. (April 6, 2021) – Continuing to work on his 410cid program, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. is constantly making changes on his Hills Racing Team No. 15h, and with every small change, finds a little bit more speed every time he hits the track.

In action most recently with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo. Hafertepe finished 10th Friday night and 15th the following night.

“Both nights, for the most part, you could run where you wanted to. It was one of the better surfaces I’ve seen at Pevely. The first night, I wasn’t really comfortable running the top, and the bottom was where I needed to be, and the second night I felt better on the top and honestly should have moved to the bottom sooner, but the car continues to feel better, and that’s what we’re going for.”

Since the start of the 2021 season, Hafertepe has been in action 15 times with 10 A-feature appearances, a trio of top fives, and a season-high second-place finish at Volusia Speedway Park on March 5.

On his season to this point, Sam said, “We’ve had weekends where we felt like we were just doing the same things and this weekend where we made some gains. We try something different each night, like this past weekend; the first night, we struggled in qualifying just because we went out so late, but we were good overall. The second night, we were faster qualifying and in the Heats and really had about a 10th place car until everyone got bunched up on a restart, but all in all, we’re making gains. We just have to keep working on things. We’ve been working on shocks, torsion bars and keep making small strides at this point. The competition out here is as tough as it’s going to get, so some nights you may not change your finish, but you’re making the car more comfortable.”

Continuing to chase World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series events, for now, the next outing for the Heidbreder Foundation No. 15h will be at Kokomo Speedway on Friday, April 9 and Tri-State Speedway on Saturday, April 10.
