KILGORE, Texas (May 29, 2016) Taking full advantage of his front row starting spot, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. picked up his second ASCS sanctioned victory of the 2016 season; topping the Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region presented by Southern Trailer Works at the Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas on Sunday night.

Taking off from the second starting position, Hafertepe’s eighth career ASCS Gulf South score was worth $3,000 in what was scheduled to be the final night of a three day swing, but thanks to Mother Nature, the Sunday spectacular was the weekend’s only show.

Chased to the line by seventh starting, Johnny Herrera, the night’s podium was completed by Channin Tankersley with Michael Lang from 10th to fourth, followed by Tommy Bryant from 13th to complete the top-five,

Michael McNeil was sixth with Zane Lawrence seventh. Jacob Lucas from 11th crossed eighth with Tucker Doughty and J.J. Simmons making up the top-ten.

The Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region presented by Southern Trailer Works returns to the track with a two night rematch with the Lucas Oil ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints at the Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas on Friday, June 10 followed by the Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas on Saturday, June 11.
