Hafertepe Jr. Rolls to a Top 10 During High Roller Classic with ASCS National Tour

Inside Line Promotions – SEDALIA, Mo. (Aug. 24, 2015) – Sam Hafertepe Jr. capped last weekend with a top-10 finish during the High Roller Classic.
Hafertepe Jr. piloted the Keith Dobbs entry to a seventh-place result at the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event at Missouri State Fair Speedway on Sunday to garner his sixth top 10 of the season.
“It was really tough to pass with how fast the place is and how the track played out,” he said.
Hafertepe Jr. opened the night by finishing where he started – second – during a heat race, which ranked him 11th in overall points heading into the feature.
“Whoever went into turn one first was going to win the heat,” he said. “Wayne (Johnson) got the jump on the start and beat us into turn one. We reeled him in at the end, but couldn’t do anything with him.”
That lined Hafertepe Jr. up on the inside of the sixth row for the 25-lap main event.
“We got a few cars at the start and jumped to eighth,” he said. “We had a caution about six laps in and we got one guy on a restart. I got beside Wayne and Seth (Bergman) a couple of times, but it was tough to pass. I’d get beside them coming off two, but couldn’t get the run going into turn three. There were a few guys who could make the top work in turns three and four, but most guys were around the bottom.”
Hafertepe Jr. ended seventh, which marked his third top 10 in four starts with Dobbs this season.
The duo also competed on Friday at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, during an ASCS Gulf South event. Hafertepe Jr. finished sixth in a heat race and fourth in the B Main before closing the night with a 20th-place result after pulling off the track early during the feature.
Hafertepe Jr. and Dobbs will return to competition this Friday at Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas, and Saturday at Abilene Speedway in Abilene, Texas, with the ASCS Red River Region.
