Hafertepe Jr. Ready for Redemption at World of Outlaws Texas Outlaw Nationals This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – SUNNYVALE, Texas (April 20, 2015) – Sam Hafertepe Jr. was extremely fast throughout the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series return to Devil’s Bowl Speedway last season.
Unfortunately, Hafertepe Jr. was undone by bad lack during the $20,000-to-win Texas Outlaw Nationals at the half-mile track in Mesquite, Texas, where he ventures to this Friday and Saturday for a shot at redemption.
“We had good starting positions only to run into problems on the opening lap of both features last year,” he said. “If we can have the same type of speed and have a little luck this year I know we’ll be contenders.”
Hafertepe Jr. won a heat race both nights to advance into the dash, in which he finished second and third, respectively, to start the main events within striking distance of a win. However, a parts failure the opening night and a mechanical problem the second night derailed a chance for victory.
“The first thing you need is a fast car,” he said. “We definitely had one of the fastest, if not the fastest, last year. Then it boils down to putting yourself in the right position and not having any bad luck or failures. It didn’t work out in our favor last year so I’m excited for another chance this weekend.”
Hafertepe Jr. has earned a 360ci sprint car victory at the track each of the past two years and during three of the last four seasons. In fact, he has six podium finishes and nine top 10s in his last 13 360ci sprint car races at the track.
“Devil’s Bowl is a unique track,” he said. “The corners are drastically different from one another and we’ve been able to build a solid setup to put ourselves in a good position whenever we show up there.”
