Hafertepe Jr. Records Top 10 During Inaugural ASCS Red River Event

Inside Line Promotions – WICHITA FALLS, Texas (April 7, 2015) – Sam Hafertepe Jr. garnered his second top 10 of the season last Friday during the inaugural ASCS Red River Region event.
Hafertepe Jr. kicked off the race by maneuvering from seventh to third place during a heat race, which earned him enough points to advance into the feature redraw. He then pulled the highest number – eight – during the random redraw to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the main event.
“The track took rubber pretty quickly in the feature so it was follow the leader most of the race,” he said. “It certainly would have paid off if we had drawn a front row position in the redraw compared to the fourth row. Luck wasn’t on our side, but it was good to get out of there with a top 10 compared to some other people who left with wrecked cars.”
Hafertepe Jr. is set to tackle his first race of the season in Ohio this weekend. He will invade Fremont Speedway in Fremont on Saturday, when he will pilot a sprint car for Hill Racing.
“It’s exciting to get back to Ohio and Fremont Speedway,” he said. “That’s a fun track to compete on and I look forward to the opportunity this weekend.”
Hafertepe Jr. last competed at the half-mile oval in 2013, when he recorded an 11th-place result to highlight his three races at Fremont Speedway that year. He also finished seventh at the track in 2012.
The 2011 season was his best in Ohio as he registered three feature victories in the “Buckeye State.”
