Hafertepe Jr. Set for ASCS Gulf South Region Season-Opening Weekend in Texas

Inside Line Promotions – SUNNYVALE, Texas (March 9, 2015) – Sam Hafertepe Jr. will tackle the ASCS Gulf South Region season-opening doubleheader this weekend.
Hafertepe Jr. is set to compete on Friday at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas, and on Saturday at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas.
“I haven’t raced at either track very often throughout the years, but when we have gone to each place we’ve been competitive,” he said. “Hopefully that’s the case this weekend and we can come out on top with a win or two.”
Hafertepe Jr. scored a fourth-place finish during his lone race at Golden Triangle Raceway Park last season and he recorded a runner-up result at the bullring in 2013. He last won at the track in 2011.
“That is a tight track where you always have to be on your toes,” he said. “Whether you are leading or running in the middle of the pack there are always cars around you. It takes a clean night to end with a win there.”
Hafertepe Jr. earned a pair of podium finishes during two races at Battleground Speedway last season.
“We were in contention to win both times at Battleground last year,” he said. “You can’t be disappointed with podium finishes, but we’re aiming for victories this weekend.”
