A Top Ten and a Top Five for Hafertepe

Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaw driver Sam Hafertepe Jr. takes the Fusion Energy Boost PlumbFast Racing Team out to Ohio this past Friday to kick off the Chevy American Revolution weekend at the historic Eldora Speedway. Sam began the night qualifying 11th quick just 2.5 tenths off the leader which put him on the front row of the heat race. Hafertepe made the precious transfer into the Main Event and put the Fusion Energy Boost J&J Chassis on the inside of the 7th row on the lineup. Throughout the 30 lap contest with some avoidance of crashes and spins, Sam muscled up a few spots to earn him yet another top ten finish with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws.

With only one day off it was out to New York to pick up where they left off in West Lebanon after initially getting rained out this past July. On July 20th of this year, Sam and the gang qualified 8th to start out the night and was to start on the front row, but the clouds came and the rain was determined to fall cancelling the show. Last Sunday, it was time for the rematch in West Lebanon for the $10,000 contest with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws. Hafertepe was allowed just one hot lap session and then it was off to the Main Event. “I was a pretty nervous, not having heat races and just getting a few hot laps,” explained Hafertepe. “We didn’t have a chance to really shake the car down and it was a little different just running the Main.” Sam started on the front row of the Main Event, but lost a few spots early dropping him back to fifth. He ran there for most of the show until late in the race a caution flag flew. Hafertepe took advantage of the restart and charged forward two spots to put the Fusion Energy Boost J&J Chassis on the podium at third.

Sam and the gang have just a couple days off here then it’s off to Middletown, NY for a single day event then the National Open in Williams Grove where Sam will be competing against the best for the $50,000. “I feel real confident going into the ‘open’… we are going to take the momentum and confidence gained from the past few shows and put that right into the Grove,” says Hafertepe.
