Sam Hafertepe Jr
Sam in the Frozen Tundra of Northern Minnesota
Following the rain outs of Williams Grove in Pennsylvania it was time for Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws driver Sam Hafertepe Jr. to head to the frozen tundra of Northern Minnesota to hit North Central Speedway in Brainerd, MN followed by the short track of Princeton Speedway. Sam started out the night qualifying the Fusion Energy Boost J&J Chassis just 1.6 tenths off the top spot in the sixth position. Finishing third in the heat race sent Sam to the Crane Cams Dash for the attempt to get that front row starting spot in the lineup of the Main Event. Hafertepe finished ninth which put the Fusion Energy Boost J&J on the inside of the fifth row for the Main. In the opening lap, Hafertepe was involved with a turn three crash which damaged part of the suspension. The PlumbFast Crew repaired the J&J over the red flag and Sam was sent to the rear of the field for a complete restart. Throughout the 35 lap contest, Sam muscled his way through the field up to the 11th spot, but then spun very late in the race due to the previous first lap incident. Sam restarted again at the rear of the field and managed to drive up to 16th to cap off the night.
After Friday's show in Brainerd, it was off to Princeton. Sam qualified in the top five out of the 31 entries which put him on the inside of the second row in the Heat Race. Hafertepe advanced one position in the Heat, to put him into the Crane Cams Dash. Sam dominated the Dash on the short track which gave the Fusion Energy Boost J&J their first pole of the '08 season with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws. Sam ran in the top five for the majority of the race until the engine dropped a valve sending the Fusion Energy Boost J&J backwards. Struggling with the lack of power and the red flags, Sam finished out the evening in the 16th position. "We had a top five car for sure, construes Sam, the car was really good and I felt very confident behind the wheel. But, we'll just build off of this weekend and pull the momentum into New Mexico." "The team is really clicking, and I am really looking forward to the rest of the season." Make sure to keep up with Hafertepe and the gang through the website www.sam15.com to see how the rest of the season pans out. With Fusion Energy Boost on board and the team beginning to jive, a victory for the number 15H is just around the corner.
