'On The Road' With Sam
In Sam's own words, find out what it's like to be a sprint car racer and long days - and nights - on the road.

6/27/08 entry:
Hello race fans and welcome back to another edition of “On The Road”. We have been
racing quite a bit from the last time I wrote or at least it seems like it because we haven’t
been rained out in quite some time. We have raced thirteen times since Williams Grove
and have charted seven top tens which is great considering only one top ten in the first
nine races.
Things have been going well for the Plumbfast Racing team. We have all been meshing
well and everyone is doing their part. The crew guys are stepping up and I think I have
been stepping up as well. We know a win is coming with the outlaws because we are
qualifying up front every night and we are getting more consistent with our finishes. The
top tens are coming and in the past month we feel like we belong at the top of the charts.
We also posted our best career finish with the outlaws at Virginia Motor Speedway with a
third which has everyone’s hopes high for a win. I know we are starting to turn some heads
and it feels good to get the recognition because the hard work is starting to pay off. We
have even had some bad starting positions and still pulled out top ten finishes at Eldora
and Knoxville. To start way back and come to the front at those prestigious tracks really
means a lot because coming up are the Kings Royal and the nationals which are the two
biggest races of the year. Now going into the big races we feel like we are a contender.
We are building a name for ourselves and now we are just looking for some big sponsor to
come in and give the team a real boost. Until then we well keep plugging away and try to
stay consistent.
I would like to thank the fans for all their support and really appreciate the encouragement.
As we head into North Dakota this weekend we will try to get a quick time or two and try to
post our first win with the outlaws!
Thanks Again,
Sam Hafertepe Jr.
